one two three four
I feel like writing when other people write.  Call it inspiration.  As Karen said, call it October.  Call it what you will.

There was a recent tropical storm named Karen.  I was jealous.  I always wanted a storm named after me.

I was called in tonight for my first emergency colic.  Nothing too terrible, it was mild, at least for now.  They drove all the way from the Virginia Beach area.  I'm just glad I'm still excited about all of this.

This past week was, well, terrible.  Three tests in three days.  I know I shouldn't complain, it can and probably will get a lot worse.  But I was just so burned out by Thursday.  Wednesday night all I could think about was how on earth I was going to stay up and study for the cardio test.  And on question 25 and an hour into my cardio test I was wondering to myself how I would make it through the final 25 questions.

Well, I made it.  Somehow.  And the week turned around for the better.

I'm ready for fall break.

I can't find anything about an actual hurricane Cassandra, but I did find this:

http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/mediasvc/connections/JulAug2006/agency_v13no6.html

"The TDCJ drill simulated a Category 1 hurricane forming near the Bahamas on a balmy day in September. Named Cassandra, she drifted westward into the Gulf of Mexico and then turned north toward Texas, posing a potential threat to TDCJ facilities near the coast as Rita did. And like Rita, Cassandra, grew in size and strength as she approached the state. Finally, five days after forming, the simulation exercise had her slamming into Brazoria County as a Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 160 miles per hour."

I'm sure there will be a real hurricane Cassandra someday. And when that day comes, it will be the end of civilization.

I've only taken 2 tests like that in my life, and one was a 6 hour test. Also both after I graduated. I'm sure you'll have more in front of you. Good Luck with it all!

Well I suppose if anyone slightly superstitious chooses storm names, they aren't very likely to choose a character from a Greek tragedy who prophesied death and destruction. O:)

I suppose so. And it would make sense (read Alan's link above) for them to name a FAKE hurrican simulation "Cassandra." Lots of sense actually. Oh well.

I was also devistated in kindergarten when we had to look up the meaning of our names and mine was "disbelieved by men." I mean, today I think it's pretty cool, but then I so wanted to be "one who walks in the light" or "princess" or something pretty. Heh.

When I tell people about myself -- When they ask how I'd describe myself.
The only substantial thing I can ever think of telling them has to do with my trip to North Carolina.
And then I miss you.
I feel sad.
I wish we could all live in the same idealistic place, with sun and chocolate.
And Akeelah & the Bee.

What do you tell them?

And Edy's Samoa-Girl Scout Cookie ice cream.
